A Page in the Life…

Posted Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Since we last spoke, I’ve been very busy! My most exciting appearance lately would have to be in New York the second week of June with His Royal Highness, Prince Edward. He was here with the Duke of Edinburgh awards at the United Nations International School. I had the most amazing time meeting His Royal Highness and getting to know more about him, as well as honor and celebrate fine young students for their outstanding achievements with community service.

I also had the distinct pleasure of traveling overseas to support American troops. Germany was AMAZING! The country was beautiful, the people were fantastic and the troops and military families were phenomenal! It was my first time even out of the country and I can't wait to go back!

Soon, I will be attending the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen pageant in Orlando and I am really looking forward to it. I love getting to know the teen contestants. It's very surreal to be around other contestants who look up to me as Miss America because I was just in their shoes a few short months ago and even when I meet another former Miss America, I still feel that tingle up and down my spine because I know what she stands for. I'm going to be very sad to see Taylor hand over her title as MAOT
because she is such a fantastic sister, buy I can't wait to take part
in crowning a new national titleholder in the MAO family!

Soon, my year of service will officially be half over! Time has gone by relatively fast at times and slow at others. It changes. Some days it feels like I've been doing this for 4 years and other times it feels like I've been doing this for 4 weeks!

I am committed to make the next half of my year of service as fantastic as the first half. My goals for the rest of the year include making it on the cover of Vogue or Elle, creating a Miss America Alumni association of some kind, and making it on a major television show! We are going to bring Miss America back!
